Dow Chemical Piping Engineer in Carrollton (KY), Kentucky
The Dow Chemical Company has an opportunity for a Piping Engineer located in Carrollton, KY. The Piping Engineer (also referred to as Piping Design Engineering Manager) is responsible for leading the project engineering work disciplines as well as able to direct others related to staffing, planning and controlling projects. This role aligns to the Operations function.
The Piping Design Engineering Manager role acts as a technical resource for the Piping discipline within the Global Project Methodology (GPM) work process for the successful implementation of detail design modifications associated with small improvement projects, or portions of the detail design within larger capital projects under the direction of the Design Engineering Lead for their discipline. The Piping Engineer is fully qualified in the application of engineering skills for their discipline and independently applies this knowledge in practical applications. This role provides a technical resource to lead project teams and/or to provide expertise in specific fields, tools or theory. Leads the coordination with the global discipline technical experts to ensure Dow’s Most Effective Technology (MET) Standards and/or best practices are applied and/or variances are indicated and worked through in a timely manner. Drives variances to MET where value could be leveraged. At this experience level the Piping Design Engineering Manager is typically most senior lead for site executed projects with responsibilities as a DAS (Discipline Activity Specialist) for their site or global Technical Resource Network (TRN) responsibilities. –or– Leads very large and complex projects globally.
Core Responsibilities: *
Applies Global Project Methodology (Global Project Methodology) and Discipline Engineering Work Process Discipline
Ensures that the project scope is well defined and meets the business needs in a cost effective manner
Ensure that the process design is safe, meets DOW Loss Prevention Principles (LPP’s) and other EH&S requirements
Drives project execution within their discipline
Provides input to project schedule and plans, then monitors progress against the plan
Ensure discipline design deliverables for their discipline meet the needs of the project: functions as intended, on time and within budget
Identifies technical problems and appropriately engages the business tech. center and Subject Matter Expert (SME) network to resolve
Required Qualifications: *
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
A minimum of 8 years of industry relevant experience
Experience in all project phases (definition, design, construction, and start up) is required
Experience working in a role within GPM, or equivalent Project Management Methodology experience (project execution work processes and has detailed understanding of the deliverables for their discipline)
Experience leading teams
Experience in managing the deliverables needed to prepare project estimates and schedules
Change management experience
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or Qualifying Asylee/Refugee).
Preferred Qualifications: *
Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader or Black Belt Certification
Experience in several process technologies/varying businesses
Construction, Operations and/or Commissioning and start-up experience
Experience working w/ Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) suppliers and vendors
