Dow Chemical Pipeline Technician in Corpus Christi, Texas
TheDow Chemical Companyhas an opening for aPipeline Technicianat theCorpus Christi, Texassite. The purpose of this job will be the operation and maintenance of the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Pipeline infrastructure for Gulf Coast Pipeline systems. The primary area of responsibility is from Brownsville to Corpus Christi area. Equipment in this area includes Pipelines, Valve Stations, Meters, and Instruments. These cross country pipelines are operated under the rules and regulations of the Department of Transportation and Railroad Commission of Texas. Candidates should live within a 30 minute range of the facility to respond to emergencies.
*Key Responsibilities: *
Overseeing contract maintenance crews
Protecting Dow's pipelines during third party excavation (one-call) activities including, locating, probing, and marking pipelines, monitoring excavations, and completing any required documentation associated with these activities.
Performing routine valve and Right of Way maintenance requirements
Assisting with calibration of station instrumentation
Assisting with projects and project personnel, which may include decommissioning and re-commissioning of pipelines.
Interfacing with the private landowners, public officials, vendor and plant contacts
Processing and managing Isolation of Energy Sources/Lock-out-tag-out and Safe work Permits
Performing housekeeping at Pump, Meter, Valve, and Tower Stations within assigned area
Attending and active participation at team meetings, Safety meetings, and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs
Completing required training
Participating within our rotating Call Duty program is a requirement. Expect daily travel requirements normally within area of responsibility and to other areas within the team boundaries as needed. Normal work hours are 8 hour days Monday through Friday, or flexible within company and department guidelines.
General computer skills including ability to read e-mails, acknowledge management of change, complete expense reports, access pipeline data, utilize electronic One-Call system, etc.

•Comfortable working alone and in a group environment
•Responsible for both maintenance and operations
•Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, and SAP
•Must be physically able to complete demanding tasks including: walking long distances, performing pipeline probing activities and related tasks, and working extended hours during pipeline outages
•Must comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) / Railroad Commission (RRC) requirements, including pre-employment requirements and drug/alcohol program
•Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
•Must have a current, valid US driver's license
•A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
•Pipeline experience is preferred
•Familiarity with process related equipment and instrument/electrical systems are helpful
•Ability to speak and understand Spanish fluently is desired but not required
•A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required..
•An associate's degree or 4 years or more of military experience is preferred.
