Dow Chemical Production Engineer - Ethyl Acrylate in Deer Park, Texas
The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for an Acrylates Production Engineer located at the Deer Park, TX Site. This exciting opportunity exists for an engineer to join our Acrylates Production Team and make a significant impact to the Monomers Business. We are a world scale manufacturing facility with a passion to debottleneck our assets and improve our overall unit cost enabling growth and profitability for our consumers.
The Production Engineering role acts as a technical resource for Acrylates Operations personnel, applying technical skills within Manage Production, to optimize plant operations, resolves plant problems and enables safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products.
This role is to provide a technical resource to assist work teams on daily operations and process performance so as to run a low cost, on specification, reliable, optimized operation, thereby maximizing value to the business in a safe environmentally responsible manner.
Acrylates Manufacturing makes a variety of products that are used in the production of various products in coatings applications as well the production of super absorbent polymers.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Understands all applicable process technology, equipment and control technology. Works with Technical Advising and plant personnel to optimize operations to meet Business and plant goals. (EH&S, Production, cost, quality, energy, reliability).
Diagnoses and documents the root causes of asset utilization (AU) losses in the globally supported AU tool
Participates when required in advanced trouble shooting and coaches others to learn these skills. Ensures findings are documented in Plant OD for future usage.
Provide leadership and direction in the day to day decision making for the operating area of responsibility.
As required participates on and leads teams in his/her area of accountability
Networks with other engineers on site and within the business to leverage knowledge on plant operations Example: Maximize Production, Improvement, Site Optimization, etc.
Ensures MET is understood and utilized.
Ensures Operating Discipline / ODMS requirements are met and include appropriate MET (Most Effective Technology).
Coaches employees on effective implementation and utilization of MET.
Implements best practices in order to optimize operations.
Understands and applies skills and knowledge in Statistical Process Control (SPC) technology to projects
Provides Six Sigma Methodology and technical support to projects
Works with Plant Process Control Coordination Role to ensure process control is optimized in the facility.
Supports plant roles in procedure usage, creation, reviews, updates and approvals when assigned.
As required communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel, Technology or Expertise centers.
Performs appropriate Manage Production roles as determined by Plant, Site, Business. Example: Technical Advising, Production Coordinating, Operate Plant Work Process Leader, ODMS Element Focal Point, Production Data Analyzing, Manufacturing Representative, etc.
A minimum of 2 years experience in the Engineering Industry is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Prefer 5 or more years experience in a Manufacturing environment.
Previous experience in Process Control is preferred.
Previous experience in leading EH&S initiative is also desired but not required.
Six Sigma Certification preferred.
Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required.
Chemical Engineering is preferred but will consider other engineering disciplines.
