Dow Chemical Reliability Zone Manager in Freeport, Texas

The Dow Chemical Company has an opening for a Reliability Manager to support the PMDI and Versene production units located at Texas Operations in Freeport, Texas.

The Reliability Manager will serve as the Reliability Engineer for both facilities with responsibility to ensure they achieve plant reliability targets. The Reliability Manager (RM) will align to the TXO Plant A&B Site Reliability Leader and has primary responsibility to implement the TXO Reliability Strategy at the PMDI and Versene units. The RM leads continued implementation of the Improve Reliability Work Process (IRWP) which includes implementation of facility and equipment reliability strategies, solving reliability and availability losses through application of reliability technology, implementation of Highly Reliable Organization (HRO) tenets for the assigned facilities and mentor the unit maintenance engineers. The RM is responsible for using the full breadth of reliability work processes, Six Sigma methodology, reliability tools, and resources to improve long term cost of ownership and achieve reliability growth. The RM will be a part of the Zone A Reliability and Maintenance organization and will also work closely with the Site Reliability Manager and other Zone Reliability Engineers.

The PMDI facility produces Isocyanates chemicals for the Dow Polyurethanes Business unit and the Versene facility produces Chelants for the Dow Amines and Oxygenated Solvents Business unit. Both facilities are highly integral to the success of their supporting Businesses and have strategic need for continued reliability improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Equipment Reliability Strategies

  • Decrease equipment failure losses in order to meet the site Product Supply Reliability improvement goals for the given year

  • Develop the Facility Reliability Strategy

  • Perform Root Cause Investigations for unplanned events to prevent recurrence

  • Identify key learning with significant value and leverage across the site reliability network through E&AT LER's

  • Member of the Site Reliability Engineering Network (REN)

  • Assist the Zone A Maintenance Productivity Leader as needed with leadership support for Zone activities

  • Provide front end loading support for plant Turnarounds

  • Facilitate implementation of the HRO principles within both facilities, building strong partnerships and coaching/teaching as needed

  • Create a facility opportunity lists and close gaps by implementing solutions

  • Assist in annual maintenance budget setting process

  • Be fluent in using the reliability engineering tools including the use of Meridium analytics

  • Work with Dow Technology Center and Technical Support expertise as needed to achieve job objectives

  • Be a technical resource for critical equipment rebuild procedures supporting quality control

  • Provide advanced technical assistance to Operations and Maintenance personnel for acute and chronic issues as they arise

  • Assist maintenance representatives and project teams to design reliability, availability, and maintainability into new plants and equipment systems using GPM work process discipline.

  • Lead PPM development and optimization efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years Maintenance, Operations or Engineering work experience in Chemical or Energy industry with at least 3 years being in Maintenance

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of maintenance and reliability practices and repair techniques for rotating and/or fixed equipment

  • Strong interpersonal, technical, and leadership skills are required

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a Chemical or Petrochemical manufacturing facility is preferred

  • Experience in reliability tools and principles is preferred

  • Experience in FMEA and Root Cause investigations is preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical engineering is required
