The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opening for aMaintenance - Reliability Engineer to be located at our site Dewsbury, United Kingdom.
As a combination in one role, the Maintenance/Reliability Engineer provides engineering support and anticipates on plant reliability losses impacting production over a short period of time as well as developing the long term maintenance and reliability strategy for a one reactor Dow Coating Materials plant. In this role, the engineer provides equipment and repair technique based technical expertise as well as methodologies to improve reliability of the plant, meet the business plan and reduce costs.
Leads maintenance work process for the site *
Participates in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy. This covers also spares as well as services procurement strategy with strong interaction with procurement to minimize costs
Establishes plant maintenance and end of life strategy
Leads improvement in maintenance execution safety and efficiency
Accountable for site maintenance budget and equipment availability
Ensure and reports plant equipment compliance toward regulation and internal standards for safe and sustainable operations
Provides technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating equipment reliability and design improvement to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
Ensures repairs, repair techniques, equipment specific training, are documented, made available and ensures standards are followed
Optimizes shutdown periods to meet business plan
Leads reliability improvement for the site: *
The reliability and maintenance engineer improves reliability, availability as well as maintainability through application of reliability technology and tools. He/ She provides technical expertise on equipment or technique. This result is achieved by focusing on opportunities, which, over a long-term period or historically has impacted the plant’s measured asset capability. He / She addresses the opportunities identified as "high-risk" with the support of Subject Matter Experts, reliability models, etc.
Leads Root Cause Investigation's for unplanned events and ensures effective implementation without repeat failures.
Evaluates effectiveness of individual aspects of the Preventative Maintenance program and corrective actions by showing quantitatively the impact of failures and Preventative Maintenance. Leverages as appropriate.
Develops and maintains a model that identifies the unit operations, equipment, process, that identifies the value of opportunities for improvement and bad actors
Provides reliability input to Global Project Methodology activities.
Uses reliability engineering principles and tools (like Weibull, Root Cause Investigation, FMEA) to increase equipment availability.
Balance cost of equipment failure versus sparing strategy to make value based decisions.
Provide maintenance technical expertise to addressing projects on the facility's opportunity list.
Focuses on innovative techniques implementation to optimize availability and costs
Required Qualifications: *
A minimum of 6 years of manufacturing experience
Master Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Biochemical or equivalent degree
Preferred skills and Qualifications: *
Previous experience in manufacturing as Maintenance Engineer, Run Plant Engineer, Improvement Engineer.
Good computer skills (MS Office) and SAP
UK applicable technical requirements awareness
Good People interaction skills
Good communication skills in english (written and spoken)
