Dow Chemical Environment, Health & Safety Technician/Technologist in Marlborough, Massachusetts
The Dow Chemical Company has an opportunity for anEnvironmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Technologistat theMarlborough, MAsite. The EH&S Technologist works closely with the EH&S Specialist and Leader in the implementation of the EH&S management system (work processes, standards and procedures), in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. The EH&S Technologist provides hands-on Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, and Health & Safety activities for the Marlborough Site.
Implements detailed, task level, day to day EH&S (Environmental, Industrial Hygiene (IH), Safety, and Health Services) programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
Ensures that the Environmental, Safety, IH, and Health aspects of Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. May perform the role of Section owner for the EH&S sections of Operating Discipline.
Acts as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
Plant contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.
Coaches teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.
Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
Ensures compliance tasks are completed.
Performs / coordinates certain environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant
As required participates in the environmental, IH, and H&S related reviews and projects. Coordinates the schedules for audits in the EH&S related areas.
As required conducts and documents investigations of incidents and ensures follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences.
Acts as the maintenance and contractor resource for EH&S information on procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Assist in developing EH&S safe work plans for facility and maintenance work.
Act as focal point for contractor safety training.
Three (3) or more years of experience in a EH&S role, or directly relevant role with EH&S responsibilities, within a chemical or industrial manufacturing environment, is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new programs quickly. Proficient at developing and presenting data.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills are required.
Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
Demonstrate leadership skills, inspire others and lead them through influence, and lead EH&S initiatives.
A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Five (5) or more years of experience in an EH&S role in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience in industrial hygiene monitoring, performing EH&S assessments and working experience as an EH&S auditor.
Experience in developing/presenting EH&S training previously.
Associate or higher degree in Environment, Health, Safety, Chemistry, Biology, or related field of study is preferred.
Four (4) or more years of military training/experience in EH&S related field is preferred.
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required, with preference for Associate or higher, or four (4) or more years of military training/experience.
