Dow Agro Scienceshas an exciting and challenging opportunity for aHealth and Safety Delivery TechnologistinMidland, MI. The successful candidate will provide support for production units at 489 and 1000 building. These assets formulate and package liquid and solid herbicides.

Under the direction of the Production Leader, the Health and Safety (H&S)Technologist is responsible for the maintenance of H&S management systems, work processes, standards and procedures in order to meet business and site objectives. The H&S Technologist will work closely with plant personnel and other members of the EH&S Delivery team to ensure excellent Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) performance and full compliance with requirements.

Responsibilities:

•Plan, facilitate, and participate in plant EH&S performance improvement efforts.

•Participate in and facilitate root cause investigations.

•Conduct internal plant audits and assessments (e.g. safety, housekeeping, life critical standard, and compliance).

•Create and present high quality monthly safety meetings.

•Update, maintain, and rollout new EH&S Safety Standards, tools, and work processes.

•Help to establish, track and drive improvement in key EH&S performance metrics (training, corrective actions, housekeeping, compliance task completion etc.).

•Completion of corrective actions from audits, assessments, and incident investigations.

•Maintain H&S operating discipline.

•Work a turnaround schedule, including overtime and weekends, to provide H&S support during turnaround activities.

•Actively coach operations in the field on EH&S and lift critical standard execution.

•Track and communicate EH&S activities and metrics to the department and the site.

•Complete H&S procedure review in the Management of Change (MOC) tool.

•Be the focal point for the facility list.

•Be the focal point for the facility Industrial Hygiene monitoring program.

Required Qualifications:

•Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.

•Strong written and verbal communication skills.

•Strong reading comprehension and listening skills.

•Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as respirators, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

•Must be able to willing and able to work in such environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.

•Must be willing and able to work in tight or closed-in spaces.

•Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.

•Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.

•Must be willing and able to work overtime as required.

•A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing process

•Strong proficiency working with EH&S standards and work processes.

Education:

•Associate’s degree/4 years military experience is required.

•Degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, and Industrial Safety is preferred.

•Bachelor's degree in a science related discipline is preferred.
