The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for right individual to fill the role of anEnvironment, Health and Safety (EH&S) CoordinatorinNewark, DE. This role coordinates, implements, executes tasks and maintains a proactive plant specific program to achieve Safety and Health goals and objectives within the Poromerics and Slurry plants.
Ensures the implementation of a detailed, task level, day to day Safety and Health program, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures. With guidance from the Production Leader, ensures all plant needs are covered in the program.
Coach for Life Critical Standards (LCS) within plant.
Site trainer for LCS.
Manages and administrates the Plant safety activities.
Ensures that the environmental aspects of Operating Discipline are adequate and applied to achieve Safety and Health performance goals.
Acts as the plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
Plant contact for EH&S issues.
Provides coaching to teams and individuals on Safety and Health related tasks and activities.
Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
Ensures compliance tasks are completed.
Performs / coordinates the EH&S monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the plant.
Participates in the EH&S related reviews and projects.
Coordinates the schedules for audits in the environmental related areas.
Conducts and documents investigations of incidents and ensures follow-up actions to prevent re-occurrences.
Develops shift EH&S focal points.
Five or more years of chemical, oil/gas, and/or manufacturing industrial experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills are required.
Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Prior experience in an Environment Health & Safety role.
Experience within Dow Life Critical Standards.
OSHA safety training or relevant industrial related safety training/experience is an asset.
Associate or higher degree in related Environmental Health and Safety or related Science field of study, and/or Four or more years of military training/experience in related field, is preferred.
- A minimum of a High School diploma and/or GED is required.
