Dow Chemical 2016-2017 Campus Internship: Pilot plant test of the active carbon bed for brine purification in Niedersachsen, Germany

The Company is offering great business career opportunities in a global and international environment. We are looking for an ambitious Student (m/f) supporting our business who is interested in doing an Internship onPilot plant test of the active carbon bed for brine purification/./

The Dow Stade brine used for membrane chlorine cell contains certain level of organics, which is not only negatively influencing the membrane cell performance, but also cause the high difference pressure over the ion exchange column, leading to shortening the cycle time of the operation and the lifetime of the resin.

The purpose of this project is to run a pilot plant test to determine:

  1. The optimal conditions for operating a carbon bed for reducing the organic impurities

  2. The optimal condition for regeneration of the active carbon bed

  3. The lifetime of the active carbon bed

  4. The impact of the active carbon bed on the difference pressure behavior in the downstream ion exchange bed.

In addition, a process for pre-cleaning of the active carbon bed before running in process should be developed, in order to minimize the contamination of the brine by the inorganic impurity in the active carbon. After gathering enough data, an economic evaluation should be conducted to determine whether this process is economic for chlorine plant.

You can start in Q2 in June 2017 for a period of /6/months (exact timing to be discussed). You will be remunerated.
