The Dow Chemical Companyhas an exciting and challenging opportunity for aProcess Control (Automation) Engineerlocated inPlaquemine, Louisiana.
This role is responsible for applying their technical knowledge by providing automation solutions for the chemical process equipment involved. Along with providing solutions which add value through work process, unit operations, operating condition or process technology improvements. At this experience level the Process Automation Specialist acts as a technical resource within the project team for the successful implementation of automation modifications associated with small improvement projects, or portions of the process automation design within larger capital projects under the direction of the Lead Process Automation Engineer.
Core responsibilities include:
Applies Global Project Methodology (Global Project Methodology) and Process Automation Work Process Discipline.
Ensures that the project scope is well defined and meets the business needs in a cost effective manner.
Ensures that the process automation is safe, meets DOW LPP’s and other EH&S requirements.
Drives project execution within their discipline.
Provides input to project schedule and plans, then monitors progress against the plans.
Ensure discipline design deliverables for their discipline meet the needs of the project: functions as intended, on time and within budget.
Identifies technical problems and appropriately engages the business tech. center and SME network to resolve.
Programming of control applications for various distributed control systems. Writing simulation applications in order to verify functionality of the control program and for training plant operators.
Participate in project commissioning and startup activities, including tuning of control loops.
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required.
At least 2 years of experience in Chemical, Petrochemical, Gas/Oil, or related industry in a relevant role is required.
Excellent communication skills, organizational and work coordination skills, and interpersonal skills are critical to role success.
Must exhibits professional behaviors and maintains high ethical standards.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Knowledge of programming and troubleshooting Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is preferred. (such as Honeywell, ABB, Fisher-Provox)
Working knowledge of typical plant process instrumentation is preferred.
Basic or advanced knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) is preferred.
