Dow Chemical Improvement Engineer in Seadrift, Texas
The Dow Chemical Company currently has an opening for an Improvement Engineer at its Seadrift, TX Location. The Improvement Engineer will apply technical and organizational skills to initiate and assist in the development of projects, optimize plant operations, and troubleshoot plant problems. This role works in local production plants and technologies, yet is part of a global technology organization.
Key job responsibilities include:
Identify, develop, and thoroughly evaluate potential value creating opportunities.
Provide leadership from an operations and manufacturing perspective on implementation of capital projects.
Assist the Operations team by sharing assignments during periods of high workload, such as shutdowns or severe unplanned events.
Ensure project compliance with the appropriate Dow work processes.
Use Six Sigma methodologies to develop and improve plant technology and management systems.
Actively participate and facilitate various teams within the Manufacturing and the Technology organizations.
Key attributes for Improvement Engineer candidates:
Initiative: Identifies/prioritizes improvement opportunities, develops solutions for effective implementation, secures resources, and delivers these improvements in a timely fashion. Candidate will operate in an empowered and de-layered organization with a high degree of personal accountability and minimal supervision.
Teamwork: Demonstrates leadership skills and actively participates in team meetings. Works well with a variety of key stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of projects.
Technical capabilities: Demonstrates strong engineering skills to appropriately identify and validate opportunities based on data analysis and interpretation.
Value creation: Thoroughly assesses the possible improvement opportunities and identification of the most effective solutions to significantly impact the business’ capital spending, operating costs and ability to maintain/improve our competitive position within the global petrochemical industry.
Shift work and extended hours are to be expected during periods of high workload such as plant turnarounds is required.
Minimal travel will be required.
Strong interpersonal, technical, and leadership skills is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
A minimum of 5 years or more experience in a chemical manufacturing facility is preferred.
Experience in applying Six Sigma methodology is preferred.
Experience leading projects is preferred.
Bachelor of Science Degree is required.
Chemical or Mechanical Engineering is required
