Dow Chemical Process Technician in Seadrift, Texas
The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting opportunity for a Process Technicianjob opening atSeadrift, Texasin the Energy Plant.
The purpose of this job is to operate assigned equipment in the plant, perform operations related activities per the work processes, utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner, work in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision.
Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
Operate and field check process equipment
Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems
Perform tasks assigned to operations per a standard task list including field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.
Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals
Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and maintain equipment reliability
Initiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations as required. Coach and train others on plant operations
Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events
Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline. Use measurements and tools to operate the Plant at optimum conditions. Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.
Manage multiple and complex plant computer control systems
Have a current, valid US Driver's License
Able to work 12 hour rotating shifts
Able to work nights and weekends as required
Able to work overtime as needed
Able to climb stairs and handle material in drums, with or without reasonable accommodations
Able to handle material with a forklift
Demonstrate competencies in the areas of: leadership, initiative, teamwork, learning and interpersonal effectiveness
Ensure a safe work environment by working safely, complying with environmental, health and safety standards
Possess a strong work ethic and be able to remain productive in an empowered team environment
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and to learn new systems quickly
Proficient computer and technical skills in order to learn how to operate both manual and highly automated equipment
Ability to understand, analyze and resolve technical problems
Able to perform preventive maintenance and be able to make preliminary diagnosis, i.e. issues with pumps, motors, valves, etc.
Desire to learn and grow technical skills to keep current with new automation and process technology
Ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback in a respectful and professional manner
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Previous experience in a Cogeneration or Water Treating Process
Associate Degree in Process Technology
3 years of operating experience
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
