Dow Chemical Project Engineer in Seadrift, Texas
The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting and challenging opportunity within our Engineering Solutions Department for a Project Engineer located in Seadrift, TX. Project Engineering is a key leadership function in the design, procurement and construction of manufacturing facilities and their support facilities. The coordination of engineering, procurement and construction activities throughout the life of a project is assigned to the project engineer.
The Project Engineer will provide project leadership to the project team for the definition, detail engineering, procurement & construction of projects. The project engineer ensures that project scope, schedule & cost are clearly defined, closely coordinated & controlled. This role is leveraged across businesses and supports multiple projects in several production plants.
The Project Engineer, along with the Project Manager & others is an integral member of the Project Steering Team that develops & leads key project plans & strategies. Typically the person in this role will manage
several projects at one time.
The project engineer has two key roles:
Organizing and coordinating the engineering, procurement, and construction activities on a project.
Serving on the Project Steering Team to provide overall planning and organization and implementation leadership of the project throughout the development, design and construction of the project.
Support Global Project Methodology (GPM) on Small and Intermediate Capital Projects reporting to Engineering Solutions regional organization.
Provide leadership for the detail engineering, procurement, and construction team assigned to implement a project. This leadership ensures that project scope, schedule and cost are clearly defined, closely coordinated and controlled.
The Project Engineer, along with the Project Manager, Lead Process Engineer, and Lead Process Automation Engineer, is an integral member of the Project Steering Team that develops the initial Technology
Implementation and Project Execution Plan and is a key leader of strategic planning activities throughout the duration of the project.
Work closely with personnel in design, businesses (such as project manager, manufacturing representative, operations, etc.), and supporting functions.
Initiating and monitoring the Master Project Schedule, developing and updating the Project Execution Plan and Plan for Management and Control, coordinating all design and procurement activities, and delivering as-built closure documentation to support the plant operating discipline.
Providing day to day leadership in support of Dow Engineering Solutions goals and objectives.
Work very closely with the Project Manager and the Manufacturing Representative for the effective execution of the project.
Minimum of 8 years of experience manufacturing or engineering is required.
Prior experience with Capital or Expense projects is required.
Strong ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time is required.
Previous experience with effective project execution as measured by safety, schedule, cost, & client satisfaction is required.
Strong conflict resolution skills is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Project Manager, Manufacturing Representative, Project Engineering experience preferred, but not required.
Experience in the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil and Gas or Energy is highly preferred, but not required
Six Sigma certification is valued, but not required.
Job experience in the area of design, procurement, & construction of projects is preferred, but not required.
Experienced with leading teams that have both face to face and virtual team members is preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required with Mechanical or Chemical preferred.
