Dow Chemical Logistics Specialist (International Trade Operations) in Singapore, Singapore
The purpose of this job is to manage import and export logistics operations in a secure and safely manner, and to ensure full compliance with country regulatory requirements for Import-Export activities. The incumbent acts as a Subject Matter of Expertise in the international trade area and is responsible for working with internal/external partners. This involves implementation of material flow work processes, 3PL’s (Third Party Logistics) performance management and service improvements for the business/function.
Management, administration and execution of third party agreements with Freight Forwarders, Import Brokers, Carriers, Documentation providers to facilitate the complete delivery of Marine Transportations. Execution of the International Logistics work process through operational and transactional expertise
Management of logistics execution to support timely business and customer needs, including track and trace capabilities, performance metrics & reporting, and improvement.
Support compliance with import/export laws affecting the flow of materials, equipment, technology, and documentation across borders.
Develop Country Standards for key customs processes, i.e. Classification, valuations, Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification, Handbooks, bonded warehouses and Transfer pricing, etc.
Inform of any changes in import/export regulations for responsible country/area.
Manage Customs enquiries, audits and investigations
Support Bonded warehouses, free Trade Zone or any other duty optimizing and savings programs
Third party compliance enforcement with maritime transportation standards and safety performance.
Contribute logistics expertise by identifying, analyzing and measuring improvements to key processes and procedures.
Add value to logistics work processes by participating in process improvement efforts through team activity and individual initiatives.
Effectively contributes to the development of logistics plans consistent with business/functional responsibility.
Initiate and conduct appropriate training for process, systems, tools, methodology, and functional disciplines.
Critical success factors:
Extensive experience in logistics related activities.
Substantial knowledge of information systems supporting logistics activities.
Familiarity with Dow accounting systems.
Knowledge of key metrics for managing logistics functional performance.
Good teamwork spirit
Good interpersonal skills.
Experience in risk control assessment and process optimization
University degree in chemistry, International trade, or Business studies
Good command of English is necessary
Minimum of 5 years in related positions in leading multinational companies
APICS or logistics certification preferred
