The Dow Chemical Company is looking forStrategic Sourcing Manager (m/f)to be based inTerneuzen,Netherlands.
You will be part of Deep Water Marine, Terminal, and Surveyor Category in Logistics Purchasing for EMEA, which manages the category sourcing needs for a group of business/function teams or on a project basis. In your role you will create value for the Company by establishing, driving, and implementing sourcing strategies, defining sourcing opportunities, developing and leveraging supplier and client relationships, analyzing market conditions and negotiating with suppliers.
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Establish, drive, and implement sourcing strategy:
o Establish, drive, and implement 1-5 years of category sourcing strategies which support the Dow business strategies and growth;
o Conduct comprehensive market research / analysis to identify potential suppliers, perform commercial negotiations, and implement.
o Lead / Support Dow’s Advantaged Procurement objectives by demonstrating strategic sourcing excellence, managing risk and contributing cost savings to the Company’s bottom line.
Supplier relationship management: Manage supplier relationships including defining supplier selection criteria, monitoring supplier performance, developing account plans, implementing supplier engagement models, and resolving commercial issues.
Client engagement: Manage and maintain business client communications on market dynamics involving price, supply vs. demand, supplier performance, trend analysis, and vulnerability assessment. Communicate and gain alignment on sourcing opportunities with business clients.
Compliance: Develop a collaborative working relationship with internal cross functional teams to ensure that sourcing activities comply with regulatory requirements.
You will engage with key internal clients to define and drive sourcing strategies by utilizing your strategic thinking skills and leveraging Sourcing Council platform to optimize value for the Company. An essential attribute is developing and maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships with both internal clients and external suppliers. The successful candidate will have demonstrated their ability to solve supply vs. demand, price, and logistics issues under pressure with competing priorities.
Experience and Education:
8-10 years of Logistics / Supply Chain or Purchasing experience
Master’s degree or the equivalent
Project leadership experience with 6-Sigma Green Belt Certification
APICS certified (nice to have)
Desired skills and competencies:
Good communication, organizing, negotiation, project, and time management skills
Strong data analysis skills and a good understanding of financial analysis techniques
Self-initiated with aspirations of challenging status-quos
Proven ability and experience to work with and influence multiple functions and business clients across regions and think strategically
