The purpose of the job or role – why it exists:
Following the expectations set by the Geographic EH&S Operations Leader and Geographic Responsible Care Leader, the EH&S Leader has the responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system within the assigned client organization (plants, labs, administrative facilities etc.) in order that the business/site/hub objectives are met and the license to operate is maintained. This job may be applied within a specific unit or may be leveraged across multiple units/site(s)/hub.
Ensure EH&S work processes, standards and procedures are effectively applied within the units through role assignment and training.
Utilize the Expertise Centers and obtain clear interpretations for issues.
Support site-wide EH&S systems as needed.
Ensure that the Management of Change for EH&S matters is implemented.
Able to lead and participate in corporate level initiatives and teams in order to drive EH&S improvements.
Collaborate, leverage and ensure connectivity with EH&S Sustainability/Business Services/Ops Expertise Services (Training/Learning/reliability, etc) in order to ensure seamless support of all EH&S performance improvement activities.
Able to participate in Severe Incident Investigations.
Lead and champion management system reviews in order to drive toward the value of continuous improvement offered by the assessment and audit processes.
Identify, escalate and resolve as appropriate potential EH&S risks.
Lead incident reduction efforts.
Participate in the investigation of EH&S incidents using the global EH&S process
Identify opportunities and facilitate the process to leverage EH&S resources (specialists (FSFL), technicians, empowered teams).
Provide functional coaching to people performing EH&S related roles.
Address incident and audit corrective actions that involve systems deficiencies.
Responsible to the EH&S Responsible Care Leader and Business EH&S Improvement Leader to plan resources and determine specific business needs.
Coach to the EH&S Specialists and Technicians to determine specific unit EH&S needs.
Assure that the compliance process in the units is in place and functioning.
Accountable for cost-effective implementation of EH&S systems through standard work processes and common systems.
Assist in non-routine waste disposal as needed.
Participate and provide data to EH&S audits as defined by the audit process.
With the consultation of the EH&S Expertise Centers, determines the applicability of regulatory requirements to their units
Act as Agency Visit Protocol Owner and implementer.
Own and implement the site/hub EH&S people work processes, tools and procedures and ensures effective execution in order to attain and maintain and effective EH&S organizational support structure. This includes the annual people systems MSR process inclusive of staffing needs assessment and gap closure activities.

Ability to transmit knowledge (teaching, coaching, communicating, documenting) as well as model and instill commitment, passion, culture change behaviors. Must be effective at organizational management, specifically leading, mentoring, coaching, and developing EH&S talent.
Can describe the EH&S WP, it's sub-processes, standards & procedures and can coach other appropriately
Can describe and explain, in detail the EH&S WP sub-processes and can coach other appropriately
Can access global, local standards, WP documents
Can constantly monitor the application and progress of the EH&S WP in the organization
Lead others on the EH&S WP
Can describe and explain the Global EH&S organization
Can identify and access EH&S Subject Matter Experts
Is able to maintain the good relationship with the local SME's and functions
Is able to coach the Site EH&S people
Can describe the Management of Change process and constantly monitor the application and progress of it
Leads the mgmt system/plant so that the EH&S MOC process is implemented
Can evaluate process changes for potential risks
Performs the BRR Identify Risk role
Can identify incident reduction issues
Can implement incident reduction and preventive actions
Can perform the RCI Team Leader / member role(s)
Can describe the corrective action process and coach others on it
Is able to use the Event & Action tool to input data and pull reports and constantly monitor the application and progress of it
Can access the Event & Action tool to input data and pull reports and monitor its application
Can initiate institution of corrective actions to improve system performance and is able to monitor and validate the implementation
Can effectively coach / influence others
Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree, preferably with a minimum of 5 years experience as Leadership in Production, Operations, Maintenance or Supply Chain for plant aligned roles.
Min 8 years of Environment Healh And Safety specialist and leadership experience.
