The Dow Chemical Company has an opening inMidland, Michiganfor aSystem Developerin a collegial and creative environment where you will have flexibility in specialization. This position is part of the Information Research group in Core R&D. This group accelerates discovery in R&D by building new tools and applications for researchers and decision makers.
We seek a highly motivated graduate who has a strong passion for software development that will collaborate with software architects and chemical researchers to develop software and database systems. We need someone who can learn quickly and has the ability to transfer that knowledge back to the development team.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Write robust, maintainable code to develop user-friendly frontend and backend applications.
Solve complex problems by analyzing and designing new applications based on requirements gathered from leadership and researchers.
Create architectural designs for new systems to meet evolving business needs.
Explore new patterns in software development and lead efforts to adopt them.
Develop Proof of Concept projects to test application of new technologies.
Uplift existing core applications to modern platforms.
Work with a variety of people, both in person and virtually.
A background in science with a passion for software development is important. Preference will be given to those with a major in Computer Science or Chemical Engineering/Chemistry with a passion for software development.

Seeking candidates with the following:
Excellent programming skills with an understanding of object oriented programming languages.
Familiarity with data structures and algorithms.
Excellent communication skills.
Must be a team player
Must be U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
A Bachelors or higher in Computer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Library and Information Science with a background in software development.
A minimum of a 2.700 cumulative GPA is required.
