We are looking for aResearch & Development Engineer/Chemist(m/f)within the Alternative Feedstocks group of Hydrocarbons R&D inTerneuzen, Netherlands.
The Alternative Feedstocks group of Hydrocarbons R&D in Terneuzen is responsible for developing new and improved processes related to alternative feedstocks for olefins.
The successful candidate will be responsible for laboratory research in the general area of process development. A variety of degree areas may be appropriate, including catalysis, organometallic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, material science, and chemical engineering. Chemical engineers and materials scientists require some synthesis experience, preferably in inorganic chemistry.
Typical goals for this job are:
Develop and maintain excellent knowledge of catalysis chemistry, chemical processes and inorganic chemistry / materials synthesis.
Apply technical skills and techniques for the preparation, characterization, and evaluation of catalytic materials and inorganic materials.
Apply technical skills and techniques to determine the kinetic and mechanistic details of chemical reactions and processes.
Use innovative approaches to solve technical problems.
Work well both independently and on project teams.
Document work in a timely fashion in data books, Dow internal reports, patent disclosures, and external publications as appropriate.
Communicate results and progress to technical teams, supervision, management, and business leadership through oral presentations.
- PhD in Heterogeneous Catalysis, Inorganic, Organometallic, Physical Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering (with appropriate chemistry experience).
- Candidate should have experience with common analytical instruments and techniques, such as GC, HPLC, FT-IR, UV-VIS, MS and other characterization methods such as GPC, TGA, DSC, etc, would be useful. Experience with catalyst testing, high throughput research techniques and technology, and surface characterization techniques are highly desirable.
Dow Benelux B.V. requires all new employees to hand in a certificate of conduct within 2 months after hiring date.
A certificate of conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag, VOG) is a document by which the Dutch State Secretary for Security and Justice declares that the applicant did not commit any criminal offences that are relevant to the performance of his or her duties. If you are not located in the Netherlands yet and/or not subscribed to a Dutch Municipal Personal Record Database you will not be able to apply for a certificate of conduct (VOG) in the Netherlands. Therefore we ask our foreign new hires to hand in a local country specific equivalent of the Dutch certificate. An official document can be issued by a police or government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may or may not have. Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings.
Date of issue of a certificate of conduct should be maximum 2 months before hiring date and in addition new hires should be able to hand in a certificate of conduct within 2 months after hiring date. If a new hire is not able to hand in a certificate of conduct before end of his/her probation period, employment with Dow Benelux B.V. will be ended.
Potential application costs for a certificate of conduct will be reimbursed by the company.
