Dow Chemical Mobile Developer and Design Specialist in Deer Park, Texas

Dow Chemical recently announced the creation of a new Digital Operations Center. The Digital Operations Center will be a critical component in enabling Dow's Digital Strategy and in accelerating the Manufacturing 4.0 Program. The center will be located in the recently opened Deer Park Dow Center and will include a blend of resources from Operations, Manufacturing & Engineering, I/S, and Diamond Systems Solutions and will collaborate closely with other key functions. The Digital Operations Center will initially house personnel with expertise in production, maintenance, process control and automation, process development, robotics, manufacturing execution systems, enterprise architecture, mobile technologies, analytics and other areas. This multidisciplinary team will facilitate rapid prototyping of new capabilities to enhance the competitive position of Dow's manufacturing and site facilities. In alignment with the Digital Marketplace Center in Chicago, these two facilities provide digital capability and visibility from market to manufacturing. The center opened in November 2017, and is continuing to look for great and enthusiastic talent to help grow the center and make giant steps into Dow’s digital era.

This new Digital Operations Center has created an exciting and challenging opportunity for a* Mobile Developer and Design Specialist * . The role will provide leadership and technical expertise, and manage current and emerging VR/AR/MR as an integrated component of the strategic and project journey that supports the digitalization of the Dow Company for the future. The role will also be responsible for managing and leading the workflow design and development life-cycle management, procurement, and R&D initiatives to evaluate emerging technologies.

This position will be located in Deer Park, TX. Domestic relocation assistance may be provided.

Primary Responsibilities*

  • Promote new and/or existing gaming development (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) technology throughout the solution lifecycle (design, development, testing, and production), understand and leverage Dow standard workspace and procurement services as appropriate.

  • Ensure gaming development (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) deployment, retirement, and lifecycle workflows exist, and are maintained to support enterprise-wide scalability

  • Ensure Change Management and Configuration Management standards are implemented and executed

  • Define and testing against determined technical & functional requirements

  • Document operational support procedures

  • Ensure technical, architecture, and gaming development (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) technology aligns to company IT architecture and security standards

  • Participate in M&E Mobility Expertise Center deliverables that ensure gaming development (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) technology projects are designing sustainable and “solution fit for use” solutions.

  • Supporting investigations and forensic activities involving gaming development (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) technology use.

  • Ensure alignment with Workspace Services Team, M&E Mobility Expertise Center, Mobility Competency Center as well as other key stakeholder organizations

  • Identify adaptive and preventive maintenance needs and escalate to the Architect Specialist/Lead Architect.

  • Provide technical and process expertise to the team on issue identification, escalation, problem diagnostics and correction.

  • Pursue emerging/new technology “solution fit for use” in a way that revolutionizes Dow’s long-term strategy and future.

Technical and Core Skills Requirements

  • 3 years of related experience in gaming development and design (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) technology with emphasis in R&D, requirement development, “solution fit for use”, procurement, and incident management.

  • Expertise in Unity, Vuforia, ARtoolkit, and/or Adobe After Effects, Blender, Autodesk Maya, or similar 3D content creation & animation software.

  • Gaming development (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) technology life-cycle Management and Operations experience; i.e. “Run the Business”, triage, issue mitigation, etc.

  • Broad knowledge of current gaming development (i.e. VR/AR/MR, etc.) technology technical standards, protocols, etc. applicable to the chemical industry.

  • Expertise in related device cycle management. Demonstrated “solution fit for use” usability attitude.

  • Experience with Incident Response and Root Cause methodologies including unplanned event mitigation, forensics, and asset reliability principles

  • Higher sense of confidentiality and integrity related to Dow’s digitalization journey

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Engineering Discipline.
