Dow Chemical Crop Protection Division IT Leader in Indianapolis, Indiana

The company is looking for a Crop Protection Division IT Leaderto be based inIndianapolis, IN.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the leader of the Crop Protection Platform and Integrated Operations & Business Services the Crop Protection Division IT Leader will act as the single point of accountability to those business organizations on behalf of IT. S/he will advise and support business leaders in setting the technology strategy needed to meet business challenges and achieve their larger business objectives. S/he will develop business strategic roadmaps that lay out the technology priorities and timelines and serve as a basis for translation into requirements to be delivered. The leader will manage the IT investment portfolio in a transparent manner to the business and be accountable for overall delivery of major programs and the associated investment outcomes.

The leader will leverage the power of the broader AgCo IT organization to innovate and deliver solutions for the Crop Protection Platform and Integrated Operations & Business Services organizations. S/he will work closely with IT’s Enterprise Platforms and Applications group and the IT Operations group to drive consistent solution delivery in line with the business strategic roadmaps and the investment portfolio. S/he will intervene on issues/risks in IT solution delivery and clearly communicates the progress to the business.

The leader will manage a team of IT business partners, who will have specific interface responsibilities within the respective business organizations, and business process experts, who serve as an essential translator of changes in business process into business requirements for technology development. The leader will build and develop a strong team and organization and ensure a common set of priorities and focus.

The leader will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, highly matrix environment, developing a strategy for the organization and a roadmap to achieve strategic goals. S/he must be comfortable working with ambiguity, have a proven track record of hiring, developing and growing talent, and demonstrate strong leadership presence and outstanding communication skills.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities include the following:

  • Develop and nurture productive, strategic relationships with business stakeholders

  • Define the IT vision, strategy, and metrics, aligned to business strategy

  • Serve as the accountable executive to business organizations for all technology-related matters

  • Partner with business leaders on IT’s business strategic roadmaps and target state definitions

  • Provide financial diligence; manage IT investment portfolio efficiently and within guidance

  • Ensure applications and platforms in the business organizations are healthy from a technical and business perspective; drive consistency, standardization, rationalization and modernization

  • Drive transformational change and a culture of innovation and agility; implement applicable enterprise platforms and applications

  • Deliver committed outcomes of all IT capabilities leveraged by the business

  • Drive technology risk management for the business organizations (e.g., strong cyber security); proactively manage risk and compliance to regulatory standards

  • Execute on the broader IT talent strategy to ensure the IT business partner organization has the necessary skills and diversity to execute on the technology strategy

  • Ensure IT business partner organization design is aligned to the business operating model with simplicity and efficiency of operations

  • Provide thought leadership with regards to technology trends and their impact on the business segment – maintain relationships within segment, the enterprise, and the industry; influence AgCo IT’s overall technology direction

  • Coordinate incident response for segment specific issues with relevant stakeholders in business and other parts of Tech

  • 15 years of IT and business experience with increasing levels of leadership responsibility in systems analysis, and defining business requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience with leading/managing teams across a large organization

  • Ability to be more than an “order taker” for the business - must stimulate, surface and shape business demand

  • Experience in change implementation planning and management

  • Experience in IT portfolio management and manage business investments

  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process


  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with farming and/or agriculture is strongly preferred

  • Experience with ERP implementation is preferred

  • Manufacturing experience is strongly preferred
