The Improvement Engineer drives the plant level improvement process by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating and shaping improvement opportunities, and implementing improvement projects.
The candidate will join the Manufacturing Technology organization, which supports manufacturing facilities within the Agriculture Division. Our production plants employ diverse unit operations, practice a wide variety of chemistries, and operate at high capacity to meet customer demand.
This role is aligned to the manufacturing facility in Michigan Operations, which produces herbicide formulations for multiple crop protection portfolios.
Breadth of Manufacturing & Engineering experience in the candidate is desirable, particularly in the fields of Process Engineering, Improvement Engineering, Production Engineering or Project Management.
Identify and drive implementation of Business-supported improvement projects that align with the Plant Specific Technology Plan in order to close local performance gaps and increase Asset Capability (AC).
Partner with Plant Operations and Tech Center personnel to gather and analyze data to identify gaps and apply process engineering fundamentals to evaluate and develop technical options, solutions and projects.
Validate improvement opportunities using global tools and economic analysis and lead efforts to build/revise the Plant Specific Technology Plan.
Provide technical plant support and trouble-shooting expertise, and coach plant personnel on measurements and updates of technology performance and asset utilization data.
Provide data to validate that projects deliver performance objectives after implementation.
Required Qualifications: *
Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
Bias for results and initiative, working with a sense of urgency in accomplishing objectives
High Interpersonal Effectiveness, Leadership, Communication and
Strong Technical Engineering skills & knowledge, including troubleshooting abilities to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions
Desire and ability to learn new processes and chemistries
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Qualifications: *
Minimum 2 years Manufacturing and Engineering work experience is preferred
Knowledge of capital project and related work processes is preferred
Process Engineering or Process Safety experience is a plus
Six Sigma certification is an asset
Knowledge of formulation and packaging equipment is an asset
