TheDow Chemical Companyhas an exciting job opportunity as anInstrument & Electrical (I&E) Technicianat the Oyster Creek location inFreeport, TX. The purpose of this job is to support our world scale propylene and ethylene facilities as an integral part of the daily Reliability & Maintenance Team.
The Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas has a comprehensive $4 billion(USD) investment plan to increase the Company ethylene and propylene production -- and to integrate its U.S. operations into feedstock opportunities available from increasing supplies of U.S. shale gas in the Marcellus and Eagle Ford shale regions.
Maintains instrument and electrical equipment for their area of responsibility with instrumentation being the primary focus.
Sets up and calibrates, tests, measures and repairs all types of electrical controls, instruments, and electronic variables.
Repairs, maintains and installs electrical and instrument equipment and machinery.
Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions and helps document failure analysis.
Collects equipment operation and history data to facilitate reliability improvements.
Actively participates in the implementation of the Global Maintenance Work Process for I&E work.
Provides Field Planner with all required information to assemble an effective plan on complex I&E jobs.
Coordinate I&E troubleshooting based on priority in plant. (Could be leveraged to other Units).
Provides Operating Discipline for I&E tasks in area of responsibility.
Works with Preventative Predictive Maintenance (PPM) Coordinator role in defining appropriate I&E spare parts and building equipment files.
Defining necessary scheduled services for I&E in area of responsibility.
Familiar with Bentley Nevada vibration instrumentation.
Working knowledge of Direct Current (DC) voltage systems and Un-interruptible Power Source (UPS) systems.
Familiar with variable speed drives.
Familiar with high voltage breakers and distribution systems.
Working knowledge of Heat Tracing Systems.
Willing to serve on the plant Reliability Team.

At least 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in the Industrial Instrumentation or Industrial Electrical discipline is required.
Must be willing to make callouts and be able to work overtime when needed (including weekends & holidays).
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills are required.
Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Must be able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must be willing and able to work in such environments wearing safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Must be willing and able to wear and use respirators.
Be physically able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for 300 pounds or less.
Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be willing and able to work in such environments with frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
Must be willing and able to work in such environments working in tight or closed-in spaces.
Must be willing and able to climb stairs/ladders and working high off the ground.
Must be willing and able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
Must have a current, valid US driver’s license.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Some instrument and process control (ABB) knowledge and experience desirable.
Completion of a recognized Instrument or Electrical Apprenticeship Program.
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
Associate’s degree in relevant field OR 4 years military experience preferred.
